This design project was completed as part of a college assignment during my studies at Humber College. The objective of the assignment was to create an animal-based logo using only geometric shapes.
For this project, I took inspiration from an unlikely design muse: the mighty stag beetle. With its dramatic pincers and naturally bold silhouette, it practically begged to be turned into a geometric logo. So I broke the insect down into clean, simple shapes and rebuilt it into a mark that stays recognizable while leaning into a sharp, minimalist style.
Of course, a good logo deserves a good home, so I imagined it as the centerpiece for a fictional premium whiskey brand. The idea was to see how the mark could live on a product label and help give the brand a strong, distinctive identity; something that might catch your eye sitting on a shelf of very serious-looking bottles.
The design was created in Adobe Photoshop, where I refined the geometric shapes and balanced the composition until everything felt just right.
This assignment was a great chance to practice minimalist design thinking. Proving that sometimes a few well-placed shapes can do a lot of heavy lifting. And honestly, any project where a beetle ends up looking classy enough for a whiskey bottle is a win in my book.
